How do I use GobbleGab?
Tap Tap to talk, allow microphone access, and say a short sentence. Tap again to stop, or recording stops after 15 seconds. When the recording is ready, press Make It Silly. Your recognized words stay hidden: there is no typing or transcript box. GobbleGab turns roughly half the distinct useful words into similar-sounding surprises, keeping the others recognizable. Connecting words such as “the” and “and” are left out. With just one useful word, it keeps that word. The highlighted words appear in a silly adventure with proper sentence structure. Press Make It Silly Again for a new adventure using the same mix-ups, or record again for new ones.
The microphone does not work.
A grown-up may need to allow microphone access for this website and browser in the device’s privacy settings. Use the HTTPS site in a current browser, including Firefox. Talk requests the microphone immediately; it does not wait for its speech model. Browser permission and microphone startup can still take a moment. A recording is required to make a story.
How do I hear the sentences?
Tap Play beside a sentence to hear just that line. Tap it again to stop. Play all reads the five sentences individually, in order, with a short pause between them. The active sentence is highlighted. New stories are read automatically; turn off Read new stories aloud if you prefer to choose each sentence yourself. Reading stops before microphone recording starts.
Who is the narrator?
The app uses one narrator selected from ElevenLabs, with expressive delivery settings. Each sentence has its own audio clip. Tap Try voice for a short sample. Playback needs an internet connection.
Which words can I use?
Keep it kid-friendly. The app checks recognized speech, sound-alike replacements, and completed sentences for explicit language, suggestive phrases, and common disguised spellings. It also checks on the audio server before requesting a voice clip. If wording is blocked, try different words; the app will not repeat the rejected wording in its message. The filter is deliberately cautious with ambiguous slang.
Why is the first visit slower?
Talk downloads its speech-recognition software and model on first use. Recording starts while these load; after recording, it may need to finish loading before your recording is ready. Your browser can cache these files for later visits. The narrator uses ElevenLabs through this website, so it does not require a large voice-model download. A short preparation message appears while each new audio clip is requested.
Why is a sentence silent?
Check your device volume and audio output, then tap Try voice. Keep an internet connection while each audio clip prepares. If the browser blocks automatic playback, tap a sentence’s Play button. If the voice service or playback fails, the page shows a message. Check your connection and tap Play again. A usage-limit message means the site’s ElevenLabs account or API-key credit allowance has been reached.
Can I cancel?
Tap Cancel while Talk is loading a finished recording or turning it into words. Tap Stop recording while speaking. Leaving or hiding the page stops recording and discards that take. Tap Stop to end sentence playback.
What does Make It Silly do?
The page starts with an empty story area. Record your words and press Make It Silly to create the first story. Each later click creates a fresh story, updates its number, and briefly highlights the new sentences. Your spoken words are not turned into a story until you press the button.
Do I need an account?
